INTRODUCTION

Imagine, the rays of sun beaming through the openings at the tippy top of the trees. The air, the sounds, the plants and the glimpses of flowers make up the magic of this particular setting. You are hoping for your favorite billowy clouds to be there too, topping off the entire experience of The Quiet Forest. Gingerly stepping to tromping and stomping. Light breezes, sun, shade and maybe a little fog too is what your senses may experience on this little jaunt. Falling petals, creatures buzzing and flowers peeking through the brush, there is just so much to explore. The next time, you need something to make this stroll even more delightful and comforting…take the uniqueness of a hand-dyed yarn, combine a love of fashion and you will see two artisan hands unite to truly see the Forest and what has sprouted? A new ponchette for the next wander and the constant reminder to enjoy those Quiet Forest twinklings.

The Ponchette is crocheted from the bottom up, in two pieces and then worked in the round. Starting with the front post and back post crochet stitches keeps in mind the roots of the tree below the surface. Above the surface is a mosaic of trees and the occasional flower falling into our line of sight. Look up and you will see the skies and billowy clouds with the Elm Tree Collar created by Rosann Fleischauer First Byte Designs.

@Haynes House Yarns Worsted Weight [100% Superwash Merino;

218 yds (199 m/100 g]

MC: MC Jean, 2.5, (3,4) skeins;

CC1: CC I Heart Community 1 (2, 2) skeins

Use lighter colors vs high contrast to avoid seeing the carried yarn for the mosaic

US I (5 mm) crochet hook, or hook to obtain gauge

10 rows/14 sts = 4” (10 cm) square in half double crochet after blocking for MC

11 rows/12 st = 4" (10 cm) square in half double crochet after blocking for mosaic pattern gauge
