Here’s a simple useful item for your home décor or for gifting, quick enough to make on a transcontinental flight.  With minimal effort you can take off with two cakes of cotton and land with a cute hostess gift.

There was always a simple circular linen or cotton dish towel hanging in Nona’s kitchen.  One day curiosity got the better of me and I asked why the towels were always circular.  The answer was quite simple, “No one uses the corners or edges of a towel to dry their hands or a dish so why bother making corners? Saves material and effort.”  After I dried the dishes that night and put a fresh towel on the hook,  I realized, as with all matters kitchen related, she was right. I now make these for my own kitchen and more recently started making them for the bath as well.  One ball of the environmentally friendly reclaimed cotton fibers of Universal Yarn Clean Cotton works up into a lovely little spa towel perfect for the bath, two works up to the perfect size for the kitchen.
